Several key issues for LED lighting

It is no doubt that led product has good prospect, especially in the illumination field. And it will be a revolution in the history of mankind lighting if the led light source is widely used for illumination. But subject to the constraints of technology and other factors it can not widespread currently. Currently LED lighting is wildly used in the decoration fields, such as LED guardrail light, LED lawn lamp, LED spotlight, LED underwater light, LED underground lamp and so on.

The reason why more and more extensive application of LED light is inseparable from its own merits, as everybody know: energy saving, long lifespan, no radiation (green light) etc., the following are some issues that related with LED lighting:

1. DC power supply should be used.
Some manufacturers use "RC-step-down" to power led products in order to reduce product cost, this will directly affect the lifespan of the LED lamps. By using a dedicated switching power supply (preferably a constant current source) to power the led products will not affect the product's lifespan, but the lights cost is relatively higher.

2. Need to make anti-static measures
A certain anti-static measures are needed in the processing of producing led products, such as: table need to be grounded, the workers wear anti-static clothing, with anti-static ring, as well as with anti-static gloves, or even install anti-static ionic fan. Also need to ensure the workshop with humidity of 65%, so as to avoid the air too dry to generate static electricity, especially the green LED is more likely to be damaged by static electricity. In addition, the different quality LEDs, the anti-static capabilities are different, high quality LED with high grade anti-static ability.

3. Should pay attention that high temperature will result smaller LED resistance.
When the external environment temperature get higher, the resistance inside the LED light source will be reduced, so if use constant voltage will rise the working current of the LED, when exceed its rated operating current, it will affect the lifespan of LED lighting, even may burn LED in some serious situation, so the best choice is to use power supply with constant current, to ensure that LED not be affected by outside temperature when working.

4. LED package.
No matter what led products, when applied to outdoor will face with waterproof and moisture-proof package problems, if not handle properly it will affect the lifespan of the LED products directly. There are some manufacturers require high quality product,so they use the traditional epoxy resin to seal the LEDs in the products, this method is too much trouble when operating especially for larger products (such as LED guardrail light), it also increase the weight of the products.

5. LED guardrail light control technology.
Currently the most widely used control technique for LED guardrail lamp is is "serial communication" (mainly DXM512 protocol-based). The advantage is that each guardrail lamp without specific "code", all are free to exchange between each other, it's easy for production and installation. But the biggest drawback is that once one light damaged, it will directly affect all the lights behind it, something like One-way traffic, once there is a car broken down, it will cause all the cars behind it can not be operated normally. For projects of hundreds or even thousands kilometers, due to external factors, product quality and other factors, it is difficult to ensure that every LED guardrail light have no problem, so it may easily result to "traffic jam" phenomenon.

In addition, the quality of LED sources in the current market have big difference, good quality LED source is not only with the high brightness, small light attenuation, but also strong anti-static capability, thus determine its long lifespan, but the price is several times higher than the poor quality LED. We can often see some LED lighting projects, at the beginning they are really beautiful, but soon will be incomplete because of the poor quality. Therefore, manufacturers and users not always fight on the price, use good quality LED source and take effective technical measures to ensure the quality of the LED lighting is just the right way.
